“We all have one thing in common. We all must breathe to be alive. Let us re-align with our natural breath so we can re-align to the life that is naturally meant for us to live.” ~Twee Merrigan

Pranayama, Patanjali’s fourth Yoga Sutra is often translated as Breath Control. I suggest we experience letting go rather than control. The ancient Yogis say each of us is born onto this planet with a set number of breaths. If we can learn to retain our breath, or hover in time, then we can live a longer more extended life.

This course introduces the traditional techniques including Rechaka, Puraka, and especially, Kumbhaka The hover between the breath. It is from this concept that we will begin our exploration of how our breathe reflects our inner world. To be able to hover within the asana, the sequence of asanas, the space between silence and OM...perhaps THIS is the practice of knowing the life force.

To know the light, we must know the dark. Within our pranayama practices we will be both at peace and at war. We must be ready to observe the corners of our breath where we hold, grip, and wait so that we can know where we let go, release, and enjoy what is. Perhaps even love what is in the moment between the in breath and the out breath.

It has been told Great Spirit lives here in the hover. The empty and the full. Let us dwell together on this journey. Who is invited to join us?...only those who are humble, brave, and not only willing, but daring enough to study their breath in order to study themselves. Those who are truly ready to study, reflect, and bear witness to who they really are and how they relate to the world around them, their parents, their peers, their coworkers, their countrymen and women, and the world outside of Spain.

Twee Merrigan.  I am a householder, a homeschooling mom of two young home-birthed daughters, a vegan restauranteur married to a vegan chef. I love snowboarding, SUP, surfing, hiking, and traveling abroad a few times a year to connect with my friends who are also my family. I live among the trees, in a national forest in Colorado (USA) surrounded by 4,300 meter mountain peaks where my altar is the outdoors. My teachings are inspired by nearly 50 years on this planet (half of which was lived in or near New York City); my nearly 20 years of yoga teachings which included a three year global tour, national and international festivals, conferences, workshops, covers of yoga magazines, books, dvds, online classes, and weekly classes in New York City where I first began teaching; and My Yoga Teachers: God. My mother. My father. My siblings. My lovers. My husband Jason. My mistakes. My failures. My victories. My Life. Shiva Rea. Alan Finger. Sharon Gannon. David Life. Dharma Mitra. Gurmukh Khalsa Kaur. In that order.  Three words to describe the Yoga I am teaching these days? Loving. Natural. Spacious. tweeyoga.com

“Living in Nature reminds me that I too am Nature, inherently returning again and again to harmony. I go to Nature for healing. I go to Nature for the answers. Therefore I go within.“ ~ Twee Merrigan
